Introduction!

Starting a blog is perhaps a bit outdated... there are many platforms available for writing articles online (Substack, LinkedIn etc.).

So why did I start this blog?

Many of such article-writing platforms have paid services, privacy intrusive software behind them, and limited customization options. Moreover, AI content has definitely taken over a lot of what is offered.

Hence, having a self-hosted platform gives me more satisfaction:

• Here I am completely free from platform guidelines(!) and customization options - I can change whatever.
• With a personal blog I can keep the content fully AI-free.
• It's fun; self-hosting means also more creativity!
• I feel like it's more personal :)

The AI-argument is a very important one to me personally; I noticed my way of thinking, and language use has definitely been influenced by the amount of articles I have been reading on various platforms. It has come to a point where I am even actively trying not to sound like an AI myself. One funny example of the latter is that ever since I started writing in English, I always enjoyed using the m-dash, (—), as it's a super useful punctuation mark(!). However, since AI uses the m-dash a lot in texts ánd I am aware of people scanning for it to check if a text is AI-written... I feel forced to not use it anymore if I want to retain my believability to not be an AI...

"Altogether, time for change!" I thought, and hence the creation of this very website was set in motion, and here we are.

With that being said, I hope you'll come by soon for more human (Damian) written articles :) I will still share the links online on LinkedIn and Instagram too!
